Bridges Treatment Center in Lynchburg operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for children and adolescents who need structured residential care. The program provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emotional and behavioral disorders. Each resident receives an individualized treatment plan that defines the treatment, the staff to carry it out, and the criteria for discharge.

Program Description
Each resident has untapped strengths. These strengths form the foundation for an individualized, success-oriented treatment plan implemented in a therapeutic physical environment. The multidisciplinary team approach allows us to address the strengths, as well as the weaknesses, by all specialty areas. The diverse academic and experiential backgrounds of our staff promote creativity and innovation in the approach to each patient's needs.

Family and other supportive people can strengthen and encourage a patient during treatment. They can also provide the support necessary for continued growth after discharge. Our goal is to provide the therapeutic intervention, support, and structure necessary for the patient to gain an emotional and behavioral style aimed at individual success.

Treatment Modalities
We provide treatment in a therapeutic environment designed to provide a maximum interaction with peers. The concept of the therapeutic environment is the most effective and comprehensive treatment approach to the whole person in behavioral inpatient settings. This program involves daily activities to promote cooperative interaction among patients, healthy confrontation, and awareness of the effect of one's actions or words on others.

Costs
Virginia Baptist Hospital provides high quality care at the most affordable cost. We accept many forms of health insurance, including Medicaid. We are licensed by the Virginia Departments of Education, Social Services and Corrections, meet Core Standards, and accept state funds when appropriate. We are state licensed and JCAHO accredited.

Admission Procedure
With parents' permission, a child or adolescent can be referred to Bridges Treatment Center by physicians, psychologists, social workers, counselors, clergy, family, or schools. We do not accept emergency admissions.
