Stanley I. Goldsmith is program manager for Virginia's Region 2000, and was Altavista town manager for two decades.

Goldsmith finds time for a broad range of community and religious activities, from America's Promise to Junior Achievement to Habitat for Humanity to the Masons. He is an active member of the United Methodist Church, serving on its local, district and conference committees.

A graduate of Syracuse University in New York and the University of Missouri, Goldsmith holds a master's degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech. He served in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of lieutenant colonel, and one of the Army's highest military awards, the Legion of Merit.
