Infection Rate Data
To best serve our patients and our regional community, Centra Health posts reports about Virginia Baptist and Lynchburg General Hospitals’ infection rates. While we realize this data may be difficult to understand, we feel it is in the best public interest to provide information to the community and our patients. This report includes data on bloodstream and surgical infections in hospitalized patients, and will be updated quarterly. Comparing Centra’s Infection Rates With National Data
(Healthcare Associated Infection Data with NHSN Comparison)

To provide a national benchmark, Centra compares its rating to the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), which provides a database from more than 200 hospitals across the country for comparing certain hospital infection rates. Centra has submitted infection data to CDC since 1996, using these comparisons as a guide for reducing healthcare associated infections.
