Patient & Visitor
Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center
There comes a time in most people's lives when they have to select a nursing home. The majority of people are completely unprepared to make this decision. Families often wait until the last minute, and then try to visit and compare a dozen nursing homes in just a few days.
The best way to make an intelligent decision about the most appropriate nursing home is to take the time to compare costs and levels of care. The sooner you evaluate nursing homes in your area, the better prepared you will be when circumstances call for nursing care.
What's Important
The five most important considerations when selecting long-term or short-term care are: type of facility, cost, location, age and staff.
All area nursing homes are licensed and monitored by state and/or federal agencies. However, there are many differences. Here is an outline of some of the features you should consider when choosing a nursing home.
Type Of Facility
In addition to looking for a place to live, examine the specific level of personal and medical care. The Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center offers a variety of services and both short-term and long-term stays. We've gone to great lengths to make this feel like home. That's why this facililty may feel more homelike, and offer a more reassuring environment for our residents.
Although it contains 120 beds, the Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center seems much smaller because resident areas are divided into four distinctive "neighborhoods" of 30 residents each to make a more comfortable, more dignified, more personalized daily experience. Each resident's day can be as private or as public as he or she wishes.

Beautiful, thoughtfully-selected decor, furniture and colors throughout
A Skilled, Caring Staff
Each person on the staff of the Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center is a carefully-selected, fully-qualified professional. Most of the staff members have been in the field for at least 10 years, and many for far longer. Many of the staff members jointed the Summit from St. John's Nursing Home, which offered a strong tradition of caring for more than 50 years.
Teams of health care professionals evaluate each resident's physical, social and spiritual needs and work with the resident and his or her family to develop a plan of care that best meets individual needs. The family is key, continuing part of life here.
Cost Of Services
Cost is always an important consideration. When you evaluate meals, living conditions, level of care and activities, you want the best value you can find.
Location And Convenience
Safety, convenience for visiting, proximity to medical facilities, the quality of the neighborhood are all priorities when selecting the location of a long-term care facility.
The Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center is ideally located in the beautiful new Wyndhurst subdivision at 1300 Enterprise Drive, off of Rt. 460 and Rt. 221 in Lynchburg, Virginia.
