| Mended Hearts, Inc., Chapter #16 of Lynchburg, Virginia is a support group for heart patients, family members and other interested persons.
Our objective is to offer emotional support and encouragement to others who are sharing similar health related experiences.
Chapter #16 has been very successful in our mission, having been awarded the President’s Cup in 1999 and again in 2008. This award recognizes the top chapter in all of Mended Hearts chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
Visiting Program
We provide service to Centra patients through our Accredited Visiting Program. Members who undergo annual, specialized training provide physician approved preoperative and postoperative visits to cardiac surgery patients and their families. During these visits, educational materials are distributed, and those who have experienced and triumphed over similar cardiac problems offer help,
support and encouragement. Since its inception, our accredited visitors have contacted over 27,750 patients and their families! Please call (434) 200-7611 and leave a message to reach one of our officers or board members who would be happy to provide more information.
Monthly Meetings
Monthly meetings provide a variety of educational programs of interest to the public and our members, including cardiac care and general practices that promote good health.
Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month, with some exceptions. During January and February, our meetings are held during the daytime and the rest of the year in the evenings (see back of brochure for details). All are held at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital in the First Colony Conference Room 1. Enter the Tate Springs Road front entrance, turn left at the information desk, and room 1 is on the right a short distance down hallway.
All meetings are FREE and light refreshments are served thirty (30) minutes before the program to provide time for meeting and greeting new and old friends alike. For your convenience, a schedule of our 2009 meetings and topics is listed on the back of this brochure.
