Five new board members join Centra
Five new members have joined Centra Board of Directors. They are David S. Black, the Rev. William Coleman, Christine A. Marraccini, M.D., Charles (Charlie) W. Pryor Jr. and J. Scott Wade, M.D.
David S. Black is vice president and controller for the Babcock and Wilcox Company (B&W), and began his career with the company in 1991 with BWX Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of B&W. From 1987 to 1991, he served as controller for Liberty University. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he is a graduate of Liberty University and holds a master’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. Black is a Bedford County School Board member and serves on the board of the Central Virginia Governor’s School, Amazement Square and the Academy of Fine Arts.
The Rev. Coleman is finance officer for Southside Community Services Board in South Boston and has been pastor of Cross Road Baptist Church in Evington since 1979. He previously served as business auditor for the Campbell County Commissioner of Revenue Office and as director of human resources for Westminster Canterbury. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and is a graduate of Lynchburg College and Central Virginia Community College. He also is a member of the board of directors of the Beacon Credit Union,
Dr. Marraccini is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist with Women’s Health Services of Central Virginia (WHSCV). She is a native of Silver Spring, M.D., and a graduate of Virginia Tech. She received her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and completed her internship and residency at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. She is a fellow with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the chairman of the Centra Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the executive committee of WHSCV and a member of the Centra Ethics Committee and the Medical Society of Virginia Foundation’s Claude Moore Physician Leadership Institute.
Pryor is the chairman of Urenco Investments, a global supplier of uranium enrichment services. Previously, Pryor was chairman and chief executive officer of The Westinghouse Electric Co., and president and CEO of Babcock & Wilcox Nuclear Power Division. He is a member of the board of directors of DTE Energy, Progress Energy and the International Board of Thorium Power Corp. and is a member of the National Academy of Engineers. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees as well as his doctorate in engineering from Virginia Tech and his executive M.B.A. from Northeastern University. He currently serves on the boards of Randolph College and Amazement Square.
Dr. Wade is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases and has served as an infectious disease specialist and internist with Medical Associates of Central Virginia since 1988. He earned his medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, completed his residency in internal medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and his fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He is a graduate of DePauw University. He currently serves on the Foundation Board for Historic Sandusky.
