Lynchburg Family Medicine has moved to the Plaza
Centra Lynchburg Family Medicine has expanded with a move to a newly renovated office and clinical center in the lower level of the Plaza.
The new center will allow physicians to see more patients and offer patients greater convenience and improved services with a new laboratory and X-ray facilities on site. The family medicine residency physicians will begin seeing patients at the new facility Jan. 19.
At the new center, the residency not only will have more space to treat patients with the number of exam rooms expanding from 12 to 24, but it also will gain more space for teaching and community programs. In addition, with plenty of parking and being located on a bus route, the center will be more accessible for patients.
The residency is affiliated with the University of Virginia, and provides residency training to 18 residents with six physicians graduating from the program annually. Care at the center is provided by resident physicians who have finished medical school and are receiving advanced training in family medicine, and faculty physicians who are board certified and hold teaching appointments with the university. Residents care for patients in the Lynchburg office as well as the Big Island Family Medicine Center, treating a broad range of patients, from newborns to seniors. They also see patients at Centra Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist hospitals as well as area nursing homes.
