Centra's Orthopaedic Program Earns National Recognition
Centra’s orthopaedic total hip and total knee replacement programs have received national recognition for quality.
Both programs are being recommended for certification without deficiencies by The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. As a result of an on-site visit by The Joint Commission, two of the orthopaedic programs’ components also are being recommended for recognition as best practices. They are Centra’s bed management system and its use on the orthopaedic floor as well as the consistent utilization for the care boards in each patient room.
Centra’s total joint program was praised for its highly qualified surgeons, nursing excellence, patient-centered care, teamwork, well-kept and well-designed physical environment, patient education classes and dedicated resources.
“I cannot say ‘thank you' enough to the staff and leadership across the Centra organization as well as the Orthopaedic Center of Central Virginia,” said E.W. Tibbs, R.N., BSN, MBA, Centra senior vice president-operations and president and CEO of Centra Southside Community Hospital. “The success our collective organizations experience and the care that our orthopaedic patients experience every day would not be possible without the tireless leadership and vision of this team.”
Centra’s total hip and total knee replacement programs are part of its Joint Replacement Center of Virginia (JRCV), which was established to serve the needs of the Lynchburg area with a comprehensive program for total joint replacement. Designed specifically for the treatment of joint pain, the JRCV has a regional reputation for its superior surgical techniques and high levels of patient satisfaction.
