Breast Reduction Community Event

Wednesday, 09 May 2012 16:04
Centra will host a free community event discussing breast reduction surgery at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, May 23 at the Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center in Lynchburg. Henry Wilson, M.D., F.A.C.S., board-certified plastic surgeon with Plastic Surgery Associates, will discuss breast reduction surgery and benefits. Dr. Wilson is fellowship trained in breast surgery and has published many scientific articles and textbook chapters. Breast reduction surgery can be a life-changing event for women with overly large breasts. Symptoms may include neck, shoulder and back pain, grooving of the shoulder skin from bra straps and skin rash under the heavy breasts. The surgery removes excess weight from the breasts while lifting them for a more normal appearance. A patient will share her breast reduction experience. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 PM. Spouses are welcome. Breast reduction surgery is one of the most common reconstructive breast procedures performed. The surgery is a covered benefit under most insurance policies. Staff members from Plastic Surgery Associates of Lynchburg will be available to offer information at this event. Seating is limited. To register, call 1.877.MDLINK1 (1.877.635.4651)

Centra Lynchburg General Hospital underwent numerous reviews by the Society of Chest Pain Centers and the American Heart Association. Key areas in which Centra demonstrates exceptional quality of care include: Pre-hospital EKG’s.  Emergency Medical Services (EMS) can perform this important test in the field, and transmit that information to doctors and staff at Lynchburg General Hospital.
