Education series for area clergy

Centra Health's Department of Pastoral Care is offering continuing education events for area clergy.

The department began a Brown Bag Lunch and Learn series in January. The 90-minute presentations also will be offered in March, May, September and November.

"It is our hope that these events will offer education, opportunities for networking, and be supportive of the ministry that area clergy provide each day," said the Rev. Randal Walton, director, Centra Health Pastoral Care.

Upcoming programs, to be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Craddock Auditorium, Virginia Baptist Hospital, are:

Dealing With Substance Abuse
"Pastor, I think someone in my family has a drinking problem. What do we do?"
March 11
Brent McCraw, Director
Pathways Treatment Center

Developing A Health Ministry In Your Congregation
May 20
Ruth Syre, R.N., parish nurse and instructor, the Virginia Parish Nurse Education Program
The Rev. Randal Walton, director, Centra Health Pastoral Care

Clergy members are asked to bring their lunch, and the department will provide drinks and dessert.
