Virginia's At-Risk Youth: Planning For Success

Centra Health's Rivermont Schools and Bridges Treatment Center will host a statewide workshop entitled Virginia's At-Risk Youth: Planning for Success on Thursday, August 19, at the Radisson Hotel, Lynchburg.

Topics of the workshop include autism spectrum disorders, the bipolar child, the special needs of foster children, brain-based behaviors and impact on learning, public and private funding issues, ethical considerations, fostering hope and resilience, legal issues surrounding seclusion and restraint, addressing cultural diversity and stress relief in working with challenging children.

CSA coordinators, school counselors, special educators, juvenile justice professionals, social service workers and other mental health professionals are urged to attend. The participant fee is $95, which includes workshop materials, breaks, lunch and contact hour certificate. In addition, attendees will be offered a private tour of Bridges Treatment Center, which will have just opened its new cottages and classrooms.
