Healthworks to meet needs of employers

To meet the unique health care needs of employers, Scott Insurance and Centra have teamed up to offer HealthWorks, a dedicated comprehensive occupational health and return to work program, beginning this month.

HealthWorks offers employers structured programs to promote health and safety and provides coordinated care for injured workers through a well managed recovery program.

Jimbo Redmond, vice president of Scott Risk Performance, said, “The concept of HealthWorks was developed in response to a clear need in central Virginia for a health care provider who understands the unique needs of employers and the importance of the relationships that support them. This medical care plus vision is well supported through our partnership with Centra.”

“We are very excited to able to help meet the needs of employers throughout our region with this new service in partnership with Scott Insurance,” said David Adams, Centra senior vice president. “We understand navigating through all the medical specialties when a worker is injured can be overwhelming. HealthWorks brings employers well-coordinated, quality comprehensive services.”

HealthWorks includes the Occupational Care Center, located at 1905 Atherholt Road, and the Work Recovery Center, located at 1900 Tate Springs Road, Suite 16.

The Occupational Care Center offers a wide range of screenings and testing, including certified drug screening, breath alcohol analysis, pulmonary function evaluation, respiratory safety education and strength and agility testing.

The center also provides early intervention services such as physical and occupational therapy and case management plus physical exams from DOT to employer protocol to medical screenings. The team of specialists providing care at the new center includes Jerry Price, M.D., as certified medical review officer, Dan Johnson, D.O., Kim Bennett, R.N., Melissa Brooks, R.T., and Leann Perault, MSPT, CEAS.

Services are available around the clock through a special arrangement with the Centra Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Department. The center offers onsite Xrays, and care for cuts, fractures, sprains, strains, eye injuries and chemical exposures and burns.

The Work Recovery Center team of specialists includes Andrea Stutesman, M.D., James Dunstan, M.D., Leann Perault, MSPT, CEAS, and Lou Ann Roberts, DPT. The Work Recovery Center’s physicians offer specialty medical and therapeutic services, including physiatry assessment and directed care, independent medical evaluation, second opinion with impairment ratings and orthopaedic consultation. The center also features a variety of therapeutic interventions, including specialized physical and occupational therapy, physician directed work rehab, functional capacity evaluations, ergonomic assessments, job coaching, detailed job analysis and injury prevention programs.
