Three new vice presidents appointed in nursing

George Dawson, Centra Health president & CEO, has announced the appointment of three new nursing services vice presidents.


Gwen Hartzog, RN, CCRN, MSHA, director, acute care/critical care/resource team, has been named vice president of nursing operations at Lynchburg General Hospital.

Hartzog received a degree in nursing from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Huntington, West Virginia. She also received a bachelor in business administration from Averette College and a master's in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Hartzog also received certification in critical care.

Hartzog is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, both at the local and national level.

Carolyn W. Jacques, director, women and children's services, has been named vice president of nursing operations at Virginia Baptist Hospital.

Jacques received a degree in nursing from Virginia Baptist Hospital's School of Nursing and a bachelor of science degree from Lynchburg College. She also received a master's in agency counseling from Lynchburg.

Jacques is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Virginia Partnership for Nursing and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing.

Harry "Skip" Meador, RN, MBA, MHA, director of cardiac and neurology services, has been named vice president of cardiovascular services at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Meador received a degree in nursing from Marshall University, and a master's in business administration and master's in hospital administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Meador is a board member of the Blue Ridge Mended Hearts, Chapter 16, president of the Piedmont Region American Heart Association board and a board member of the Virginia Cardiac Surgery Quality Initiatives.
