Timothy D. Shaver, M.D., FACS, from Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, and Lynchburg physicians Daniel Carey, M.D., Michael J. Diminick, M.D., Thomas W. Eppes Jr., M.D., and Patricia A. Pletke, M.D., have been selected to participate in the Claude Moore Physician Leadership Institute inaugural program. The Medical Society of Virginia Foundation, along with the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation, established the program.

The goal of the program is to produce a network of physician leaders who will work individually and together to effectively advance health care in Virginia through two components, the Leadership Development Program and the Leadership Support Program.

The Leadership Development Program will offer 20 physicians each year the opportunity to participate in a two-day program that will focus on health care issues. The Leadership Support Program will offer ongoing support and mentoring to the graduates of the development program.
