Mental Health Services
Centra Health offers a comprehensive line-up of services to support the emotional and mental well being of the individuals and families we serve. Programs include mental health services for adults, adolescents and children and chemical dependency (alcohol and drugs) treatment for adults.

Did you know that the new and improved Mental Health Intake & Resource Center not only handles admission calls for the adult and child/adolescent psychiatric programs at Virginia Baptist, but also provides information about mental health resources in our community and beyond. Intake Specialists Mark Sivdas and Jennifer Powers can be reached at 200-4444, days and evenings, respectively, to answer your mental health-related questions or refer you to the appropriate provider or resource.

We have an exceptional mental health staff and devote nearly a quarter of our 388-bed capacity at Virginia Baptist to fulfill our mission of care for children, adolescents and adults. We offer:

• Access any of our programs through Mental Health Intake Center, a 24 hour service for confidential assessments and referrals.
• Residential programs for children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional problems to work for long-term change.
• Inpatient and outpatient psychiatric programs for young people and adults to overcome acute problems including deep depression, severe anxiety and suicidal tendencies.
• Outpatient treatment for adults to recover from alcohol and other drug addictions.
• 24-hour emergency mental health consultation at Lynchburg General Hospital's emergency services for crisis situations.
• Special education programs, family therapy and numerous community awareness programs.
