Cell Phones
Cell phones may be used in Centra facilities, but should not be used inside any critical care units, the emergency department or surgical areas within three feet of any medical equipment. The unit nursing manager or administration has the discretion to prohibit cell phone use within a patient's room or other area of the hospital at any time for any reason.
It is recommended that all cell phone conversations take place in waiting areas, int he cafeteria, or outside the hospital. Please remember patient information privacy when using any phone within the hospital.
Cafeteria
Guests are welcome to eat in any Centra cafeteria. The BMH Cafeteria is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 9:00am for breakfast and 11:00am - 1:30pm for lunch.
A variety of foods, from hot entrees to soups, salad bar, sandwiches and grilled items are featured. Hot entrees are available for breakfast and lunch. Snacks and drinks are also available in vending machines.
Gift Shop
The BMH Gift Shop, "Tickled Pink", is located at the main entrance adjacent to the Emergency Department. "Tickled Pink" is operated by volunteers and is a full-service gift shop stocked with gifts, snacks, drinks, and personal care items. The shop accepts phone orders to 540-587-3374 and major credit cards are welcome.
Volunteer Services
Our volunteers are residents from our community who devote their time, energy and talents to making your stay in our hospital more pleasant. We offer guest services in our main lobby to assist visitors while their family members or friends are in surgery or in the hospital. Volunteers are located at the front desk in the hospital's main lobby to assist you.
Security
Security officers are on duty throughout the hospital 24 hours a day. Nighttime visitors can call the operator at extension "0" to have an escort back to the parking area.
Smoking
Bedford Memorial is a smoke-free facility and campus. Smoking is not permitted within the hospital.
Visitor Guidelines
We encourage visitors, but all visitors must follow these guidelines:
- Visiting hours are 8:00am - 8:00pm
- Check with the nursing station for specific visitation hours.
- The number of visitors may be restricted based on the patient's condition
- Visitors are not allowed in patient rooms when the "No Visitors" sign is posted on the door
- Visitors may be asked to leave the room when the patient is with his/her doctor or nurse
- Visitors may only take photographs of patients with signed permission from the patient. All other photography is strictly prohibited
- Visitors must be free of all symptoms of illness.
- Visitors must abide by all hospital policies at all times. Disruptive visitors will be asked to leave the premesis immediately.
