Critical Care

Welcome to Centra’s Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The ICUs are units in the hospital that are designed to care for patients whose injuries or illnesses are very serious and can sometimes present a threat to their lives. These patients need more intense monitoring and observation provided by teams of specially trained and highly skilled critical care doctors, nurses, therapists, and pharmacists, among many others. As the family member of a patient in one of our ICUs, we believe that you play a vital role in the healing process. Because of this, we invite you to participate with our team in providing excellent care for your loved one.

Interacting with the Intensive Care Team

Our critical care doctors start their day at 7 am. A team of people from several different departments are involved in your loved one’s care, and they meet together at the bedside in the mornings from 8:30 am to about 9:30 am to receive updates about your loved one’s condition from the primary nurse. If you have questions for the care providers or would like updates, please ask your nurse.  We will be happy to help you get the answers and updates you need.
