Geriatric Psychiatric Program
Centra's Geriatric Psychiatric program in the Geriatric Psychiatric Unit at Virginia Baptist Hospital provides personalized treatment to adults ages 65 and older who are in crisis and in need of immediate stabilization. Short-term psychiatric treatment is provided in a safe and therapeutic acute inpatient setting specifically designed to meet the unique needs of this population. Besides crisis stabilization, the program provides diagnostic evaluation, focused therapy and group counseling. Patients are admitted to a safe and secure environment at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital. The average length of stay is 10 days.

Our goal is to assist the patient in working toward maintaining and improving independence and quality of life and ensuring that a smooth transition to the community is achieved.

Our inpatient unit in the heart of the Virginia Baptist Hospital supports a compassionate approach to child and adolescent psychiatric care in the hospital setting.
