On Monday, October 2, 2017, our Lynchburg office relocated from Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital (3300 Rivermont Avenue) to our new space on the lower level of the Centra Medical Group Stroobants Cardiovascular Center. Our new Lynchburg address is 2410 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, Virginia 24501. 

About Us

Centra Medical Group Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center is made up  is made up of a dedicated group of physicians and advanced practice providers.  Our office specializes in healing problem wounds. For most people, the body can naturally heal when it has a wound. However, for those who have difficulty healing, specialized treatment may be necessary. Our center provides wound care that  includes wound assessment and treatment, as well as the option of hyperbaric oxygen therapy at our Lynchburg location. Our staff is trained to provide a specialized, comprehensive course of therapy to assist in healing your problem wound.


Appointments are required. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call 24 hours in advance to reschedule.

Conditions Treated

The wound center offers treatment for many different types of wounds, including:

  • Diabetic ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Removal of non-healing and malignant lesions
  • Ulcers caused by circulation problems

It can be a very frustrating and time-consuming to heal these wounds. The providers at the wound center follow treatment protocols specifically established for each type of wound, using the most up-to-date approaches to wound healing. We will communicate with your primary care physician who will continue to manage your medical condition while you are a patient at the Wound Care Center. 

Your Wound Treatment Program

Upon referral to the center, you will undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to identify the type of wound you have and the underlying problems causing the wound. After this determination, a program specifically tailored to your needs will be initiated based on the most effective treatment options. A multi-specialty approach will be utilized to provide the maximum benefit to your wound. There are multiple diagnostic and treatment modalities that may be utilized by our professional staff. Some may include:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Laboratory Evaluation
  • Nutritional Management
  • Pain Management
  • Diabetic Education
  • Nuclear Medicine
  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
  • Radiology
  • Dialysis

Once a treatment plan begins, you will visit the center on a regular basis for wound care and documentation on the progress of your healing. You will be fully instructed on how to care for your wound at home between visits, as well as how to protect your wound from further injury.

Insurance and Payments

Our office participates in most commercial insurance plans. Many insurance companies require copayments as part of your coverage agreement. Copayments, including outstanding amounts owed, are due upon check-in. Please bring your insurance card(s) and a photo ID to each appointment so that we can confirm that we have the most up-to-date information in our records. This will also ensure your claims are filed properly.
