Nurse Residency Program

The Nurse Residency Program at Centra is designed to support your transition from advanced beginner to competent professional. This supportive program is focused on Professional Practice and expands on what is learned during academic studies. The yearlong program includes mentorship, the opportunity to impact patient care by participating in a group evidence-based practice project, and professional development resources for leadership, patient safety and outcomes, and professional role.

At the conclusion of the Nurse Residency Program at Centra, you will:

  • Make the transition from an advanced beginner nurse to competent professional nurse.
  • Develop effective decision-making skills related to clinical judgment and performance.
  • Provide key clinical nursing leadership.
  • Strengthen your commitment to nursing.
  • Incorporate research-based evidence in practice.

What does the program entail?

Monthly four-hour small group seminars on topics pertinent to beginning your career, such as stress management, end-of-life care/decisions, conflict resolution and more. You will participate in a group evidence-based practice project on a relevant topic to impact patient care.
