Cancer Treatment

Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center

From the latest cancer-fighting technology to new state-of-the-art facilities and services, Centra offers excellent cancer care for patients and their families throughout Central Virginia. Centra's comprehensive cancer services and treatments range from the newest minimally invasive robotic surgery and Trilogy linear accelerator to chemotherapy, biological, and targeted drug therapies; genetic testing; and clinical trials.

Centra treats a broad range of cancers, including lung, prostate, breast, brain, kidney, bladder, ovarian, lymphoma, leukemia, colon, uterine, and rectal. In 2008, Centra opened the Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center, bringing radiation and medical oncology together in one facility for patient convenience.

Designed with cancer patients and their families in mind, the Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center combines a comprehensive array of services in a new center of hope and healing. A team of board-certified physicians and highly skilled clinicians collaborates on personalized treatment plans for patients and supports them through every step of their cancer journeys. This team approach has earned Centra national recognition with full accreditation and a commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In addition to radiation and medical oncologists, the multidisciplinary team includes a broad range of expertise from nurse practitioners and nurses to clinical trials, patient navigators, social workers, and chaplaincy staff members.

RENEW | A Program for Survivors

At Centra we are committed to offering the best available survivorship services. Whether you are newly diagnosed or long finished with treatment, you may benefit from RENEW. This program is open to everyone at any stage of cancer or phase of recovery. Cancer survivors may participate in rehabilitation to help manage the effects of cancer and treatment-related conditions. Newly diagnosed patients may want to increase their strength and endurance in order to prevent future medical problems. Years after cancer treatment has concluded, rehab interventions can help improve functioning and stamina.

Rehabilitation provides the opportunity for cancer survivors to integrate psychological and physical well-being with the acute oncological plan of care in hopes that patients will receive the maximum benefit from all interventions.
