CENTRA: A LEARNING ORGANIZATION

Centra has a long tradition as a place of learning and teaching, beginning with the School of Nursing in 1912 and continuing with Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency in 1975. Every year, Centra employees and members of Central Virginia’s extended medical community help mentor and train hundreds of medical learners and allied health professionals. As the medical industry expands, area schools look to Centra to provide a quality medical learning experience for the next generation health care professionals. Unlike a traditional teaching hospital, Centra offers an innovative approach to medical and allied healthcare education, building precepting models geared towards interdisciplinary teams in acute and primary care settings.
