The Rivermont School Alleghany Highlands in downtown Covington provides a therapeutic educational program for students, ages 5-22, with special needs, including autism, who have difficulty learning in a traditional school setting. Our mission is to help students learn to manage their behaviors so they can return to their home schools, graduate and become productive citizens.

Students are referred to Centra Rivermont Schools through public school systems' special education departments in conjunction with Community Policy and Management Teams (CPMT) and Family Assessment and Planning Teams (FAPT).

Rivermont Autism Program (RAP)
Rivermont Autism Program (RAP)

The Rivermont Autism Program (RAP) at Rivermont Alleghany provides academic and behavioral services for students in grades K-12 in dedicated classrooms.  RAP focuses on family-centered, evidence based treatments with a foundation in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) and Verbal Behavior.

In-Home Autism Services

We offer Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, an evidence-based approach in helping children with autism and their families develop new skills together. The foundation of our program is based on research supported practices of applied behavior analysis. We focus on both the individual child and the family system as a whole with data driven methods to support progress.  

Our in-home services is for clients up to age 21 in the Rockbridge/Alleghany areas and is available to Rivermont families as well as the general public.
