Centra welcomes first baby of the year

Published on Sunday January 1, 2023

2023 is already off to a hopeful and promising start! Anthony and Kera Weihrauch-Ernest welcomed their daughter, Eleni Paige, at 2:47am on January 1, 2023, making her Lynchburg’s newest citizen of the New Year. Baby girl weighed 8 lbs 4oz and was 18.5 inches long. Kera Weihrauch-Ernest was not due until January 7th, but she was surprised when the timing of her labor placed her at Virginia Baptist’s Labor and Delivery unit on New Year’s Eve.

“I started having contractions about 10pm, but we didn’t arrive at the hospital until 12:30am, states Kera.” A short two hours later, little Eleni entered the world in a hurry. “She wasn’t waiting on anyone! But we certainly didn’t expect her on New Year’s Day.”

As the first baby of the New Year, generous donations are gifted by local patrons. Centra would like to thank all who participated in welcoming Miss Eleni to our community! Eleni will join her two older brothers, who are already very excited to meet her! Welcome to our community, baby girl; we are so glad you are here!
