The Farmville PACE program recently expanded by six thousand square feet, adding the adjacent building to its center. PACE staff and participants are excited to have a new gym, clinic, Activities of Daily Living (ADL) patient kitchen, and office space. With these additions, PACE participants will have an improved therapy gym and more patient treatment rooms.
The ADL kitchen provides an environment for occupational and physical therapists to work with patients who enjoy cooking to practice, maintain and restore skills in a safe space. The goal is to keep these skills in their homes, allowing for quality and safety in the community.
This addition also allowed PACE to double the size of the therapy gym. The gym is outlined with mirrors, allowing participants to monitor their form on machines. This assists participants in improving balance, mobility, and functioning within the home. The therapy gym allows PACE staff to support patients during therapy, supporting the goal of keeping seniors active in their homes and communities.
The new patient clinic is also more extensive, with an additional patient care room. The space allows for a more comfortable setting for patients and providers. PACE provides primary care services to all its participants with a 24/7 on-call number for acute needs. PACE also provides transportation to and from medical appointments.
The medication room has also doubled in size. PACE administers medications, fills them and delivers them to participants. This space is much needed and helps ensure patients’ needs are met in this all-inclusive program.
