Areas of Special Interest: Pregnant and postpartum women and their partners, individuals with substance use disorders, and transgender individuals. Ms. Rugh is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and is currently pursuing certification. She also has extensive training in transgender mental health.
Ms. Rugh served as a licensed outpatient counselor and integrated care provider at Horizon Behavioral Health where she also served on the ethics committee and provided clinical supervision. She has also been a mental health support therapist at Creative Family Solutions and a clinical counselor and program director at Couples & Kids Counseling Agency in Lynchburg.
Previously, she has served as a parenting intervention specialist, working to reunify at risk families, as a breastfeeding peer counselor and as a family support specialist for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
