Centra Pharmacy

Centra has four central pharmacies, one at each of the primary hospital campuses: Lynchburg General Hospital, Virginia Baptist Hospital, Southside Community Hospital and Bedford Memorial Hospital. The four pharmacies work as one department to provide pharmacy services to patients in many areas including:

Pharmacy Residency | Frequently Asked Questions

The pharmacies employ approximately 70 personnel and fill over 3 million drug orders per year.

Following order review and evaluation, medication is distributed using automated dispensing devices which are located in every patient care area. Medication is administered using bedside bar code scanning.

The central pharmacy at Lynchburg General Hospital  is equipped with a state of the art clean room for preparing sterile injectables and cytotoxic agents.

Clinical Specialists in general and specialty areas provide drug dosing, antibiotic stewardship, therapeutic interchange and nutritional therapy.

Our pharmacists also participate in the training of family medicine residents.
