Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency Medical Student Program

Goal

To provide 3rd and 4th year medical students with an opportunity to learn and practice clinical skills in a family medicine setting.

Objectives

  • Sharpen history taking and physical diagnostic skills in an outpatient or inpatient setting
  • Practice medical decision making via evidence-based medicine tools
  • Learn to present cases to attending physicians and to utilize consultants appropriately
  • Understand the role of family medicine in the overall healthcare system
  • Experience post-graduate medical education by interacting with family medicine residents

 

Awards

The VCU Department of Family Medicine and Population has awarded   Centra Medical Group – Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency with the High Evaluation Award for 2015 – 2016 for excellence in teaching. Faculty who teach in courses or clerkships are considered for high evaluation awards. Award recipients must receive a ranking of excellent or higher on student evaluations. We  are proud to be an award recipient and continually strive to promote a positive learning environment filled with great experiences for our medical students.
