Centra Announces Executive-Level Promotions

Published on Monday March 13, 2023

Two members of Centra’s Executive Team were recently promoted and announced earlier this week. As Centra celebrates Women’s History Month, it is important to note that both women being promoted have made their mark on Centra’s history through their hard work, dedication to excellence and continued commitment to serving the communities of central Virginia.

Diane Ludwig has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Ludwig joined Centra in 2008 and has been an integral part of the organization’s internal and external communication efforts over the years; most recently earning national recognition and gold awards for Centra’s 2022 brand campaign, through the Telly Awards.

As part of this promotion, Ludwig’s role will be expanded to include oversight of Centra’s Business Development team. She will continue to work closely with leaders across Centra to align marketing, communications and business development initiatives with the organization’s strategic goals. Ludwig is an innovative and compassionate leader who continues to build on Centra’s story in ways that connect and inspire a wide range of audiences while advancing its mission and vision.

After nearly two years serving as Corporate Vice-President of Operations and Hospital Administrator, Tab Culbertson has been promoted to President of Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals. As President, Culbertson will be responsible for the operations of both hospitals. This critical role supports planning, organizing and directing the hospital to ensure high-quality patient care and experience while maintaining compliance and accreditation.

Under Culbertson’s leadership Centra has experienced significant movement with their national Leapfrog grades. Tab’s passion for quality care together with her operational expertise and strong track record for cultural growth and engagement will continue to be a tremendous benefit to Centra.

“It has been a privilege to witness the impact of Diane and Tab’s leadership. They inspire our caregivers and serve as role models within Centra, living our values through servant leadership and delivering exceptional results. They have been instrumental in charting a course for our organization’s future that is strategic and full of hope,” said Amy Carrier, Centra President and CEO.
