Preparing for a newborn is a milestone that comes with numerous questions. That's why Centra's Maternity Services Team is here to help answer your questions and guide you through each step of your pregnancy.

Perinatal Navigator Services

With a newborn on the way, finding the right prenatal care, services and education is important. Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital employs a perinatal navigator to work closely with expectant moms for guidance and support. Our focus is ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy for mother and baby and helping families receive the best care. The perinatal navigator is a nurse who serves as an advocate for expectant moms and works closely with physicians in the region.

What our navigators do

  • Builds professional relationships with expectant moms and their families
  • Coordinates care throughout a pregnancy
  • Ensures moms-to-be are well informed and understand prenatal care plans
  • Assists women and families with removing barriers to prenatal care
  • Helps expectant mothers and families navigate appointments and consultations
  • Answers any questions or concerns throughout the pregnancy

Mother-Baby Unit

Daily Quiet Time is from 1:30-3:30 p.m. One visitor over age 18 can stay the night as a support person. Children must be accompanied by an adult over 18 years old that is not the patient.

Intensive Care Nursery (NICU)

Visitors must be escorted to the bedside by parent. No visitors under 18 years old. Visitation is not allowed from 6:30-8:30 a.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m.

The Birth Center

During delivery, three individuals may be at the bedside. Children must be accompanied by adult over 18 years old that is not the patient. Doulas do not count as a visitor. Birth photographers do count as visitors.

Patient Parking at VBH

Free Valet Parking is available to patients, 5:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. There is also special parking for pregnant patients located outside the Oak Vassar Entrance. If there are no spaces, temporarily park near the entrance and do not block traffic. After you are settled in the Birth Center, please have a family member move your car to the parking deck.
