The ATI TEAS Test is a required part of the application for Centra College's LPN and ADN programs, even if you have a previous college degree. Please note that test scores must be no more than 12 months old from the application deadline of the term you are applying to. There are multiple options for students to take the TEAS test: in-person at Centra College or remote via ATI. Because the TEAS test a comprehensive exam, you’ll be tested on four different subject areas, so thorough preparation is crucial. Here is a link to the ATI TEAS study materials.

Please visit the individual program pages for specific admission requirements. If admitted, students in any of our four programs are required to meet these enrollment requirements to be registered in classes at Centra College.

Centra College is not certified as a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and is not authorized to enroll F and M nonimmigrant students. Centra College is regulated by the Virginia Board of Nursing (VBON). Upon graduation or completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to file an application to take the examination for licensure in the state where the graduate expects to practice. Enrollment Agreement and Registration Fees

Registration fees and signed enrollment agreements must be returned within the specified time as included in the letter of acceptance.

Background Check and Drug Screen

In order to comply with the Joint Commission accreditation standards, clinical sites and affiliates require background checks on all students. Following acceptance to Centra College, students will be required to complete forms for the background check. Failure to complete the forms and/or return them by the deadline, refusal for a background check, failure to disclose information or unacceptable report will result in revocation of acceptance. Criminal findings on background checks, including failure to disclose information, may prohibit enrollment into the college.  

Drug screens are completed by a vendor selected by the Centra College.  Any positive results, including refusal to be tested, may prohibit enrollment into the college.

CPR Card

American Heart Association BLS Provider or American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR card valid for the duration of the program.

Immunizations

Information on required immunizations may be obtained from the Student Health Nurse at Centra College.  The individual’s health must permit him/her to meet the physical demands on working conditions required for employment as a nurse.

Orientations

All accepted applicants will be required to attend the full orientations.  Failure to attend the orientations will result in forfeiture of your position in the program.

Applications

Completed applications for the LPN and ADN programs with all supporting documents must be received by the following deadlines:

Fall (August) entry-application deadline is March 31st
Spring (January) entry-application deadline is August 31st

Completed applications for the RN-BSN program with all supporting documents must be received by the following deadlines:

Fall (August) entry-application deadline is June 30th
Spring (January) entry-application deadline is November 15th

Centra College partners with NursingCAS to process and review your online application. Be sure to follow all instructions on the NursingCAS application below to ensure you submit your academic credentials correctly and within the prescribed deadlines.

Upon graduation or completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to file an application to take the examination for licensure in the state where the graduate expects to practice. Satisfactory results on the examination confers licensure and allows the nurse aide, practical nurse, or registered nurse to practice and seek licensure by endorsement in other states. Please note, curriculum regulations of the programs have been verified with Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Maryland licensure requirements.

For the 2021-2022 academic year, 80% of enrolled students used some form of federal financial aid.

Financial Aid Options

The Office of Financial Aid exists to help students fund their education while at Centra College. Financial aid information is available upon request from the Office of Financial Aid. Information regarding federal aid can also be found at Studentaid.gov.

Students planning on using federal aid to help fund their education should follow these steps:

1) Complete your FAFSA: You can complete your FAFSA at Studentaid.gov using your FSA ID and the Centra College school code (015347). Students must complete a FAFSA every year to be considered for Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Loans, and institutional aid.

2) Apply for Loans: If you are planning on using federal loans, you can find information about the requirements and steps to apply at Studentaid.gov. While private loans are also available, students are encouraged to pursue federal loan options first.
