Our approach

Centra College and Central Virginia Community College collaboratively offer a 6-week Nurse Aide Education Program at Centra College's main campus site in Lynchburg, Virginia and branch location at Bedford Memorial Hospital (BMH). Clinical experiences are provided at Centra in both acute care and long-term care facilities. Licensure is required for employment as a Certified Nurse Aide. The Nurse Aide Education Program is approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing.

In collaborating with CVCC’s Workforce Development, Centra College’s Nurse Aide Education Program participants will obtain licensure as a Certified Nurse Aide through successful completion of the NNAAP exam. Certified Nurse Aides will work within the scope of practices for a Nurse Aide in the state of Virginia within hospitals, long term care, facilities, or home settings, and will be able to accurately recognize and report changes in a patient, resident condition to the appropriate nursing staff; provide the necessary skill set to care for patients, residents per care plan and be knowledgeable to work within their scope of practice in the Nurse Aide role.
