Midwifery

It is the hope and philosophy of Centra's nurse-midwives to provide loving, educated and competent care to women of all ages.
Meet Donna, a Centra Women's & Children's/Midwifery patient.

What is a Certified Nurse-Midwife?

Midwives are Advanced Practice Providers specifically trained in the care of women in both nursing and midwifery. Nurse-midwives are licensed to provide prenatal care and perform deliveries, but also provide gynecologic care from adolescence to menopause. Teaching women how to prevent disease and maintain good health throughout their lives is at the core of nurse-midwifery care.

Patients are seen for routine appointments in the CMG Women's Center Offices located in Forest, Farmville and Bedford. Births are attended at The Birth Center at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital.
