Published on Tuesday November 14, 2023

Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the organization, Stacey Vaught has been promoted to the role of Hospital President at Centra Bedford Memorial Hospital (BMH).

Stacey began her nursing career in 2006 at Riverside Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department in Newport News, Virginia. She and her family moved to Bedford, VA in 2011 and she has worked at BMH since then, fully adopting the community as her own. After BMH joined the Centra system in 2014, Stacey took on the role of Unit Manager of the Emergency Department which was followed by a promotion to the Director of Nursing in 2015.

Stacey graduated from Virginia Tech with her bachelor’s degree and then went on to earn both a master’s of science in nursing and a master’s in business administration all while working as the Director of Nursing of the BMH ED. Stacey's leadership trajectory continued with her appointment as Chief Nursing Officer in 2022, following the retirement of BMH's long-time CNO.

Stacey is passionate about serving the community through excellent patient care and as a steward of community health through engagement. She is actively involved in Centra’s triennial Community Health Needs Assessment, serves on the Steering Committee of the Free Clinic of Central VA and on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Organization of Nurse Leaders. Additionally, she leads the annual volunteer efforts during the Bedford Toys for Kids campaign to provide holiday gifts to underserved children in our communities.
