LYNCHBURG, V.A., December 18, 2023–Tab Culbertson, President of Centra Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist Hospitals, has been elected to serve as an at-large delegate of the Regional Policy Board 3 (Southeastern United States) with the American Hospital Association (AHA).

The AHA is a national organization that represents hospitals and healthcare networks throughout the United States and seeks to serve patients through advocacy, knowledge exchange and thought leadership. With a dynamic career in healthcare spanning over 25 years, Culbertson will use her extensive expertise to collaborate with other regional policy board members to bring forward policy recommendations to the AHA unique to central Virginia.

The AHA’s regional policy boards foster communication between the AHA, its members and state hospital associations and provide important input on critical public policy issues particular to their region. They also provide essential guidance on public policy issues considered by the AHA Board of Trustees and serve as ad hoc policy development committees when appropriate.

“Tab’s strong track record with Centra, especially in regard to health care quality and workforce culture, will benefit the AHA’s policymaking through Regional Policy Board 3,” said Matthew Wright, AHA Region 3 Executive.

In her current role as president of Centra’s Lynchburg-based hospitals, Culbertson is responsible for cultivating a culture that promotes the optimal Centra experiences for patients and community members while also motivating, recognizing and rewarding positive results among hospital Caregivers. Under her leadership, LGH and VBH Hospitals were ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the No. 7 in Virginia for 2022-2023 and were awarded a five-star rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
