Our approach

Centra offers bereavement services for anyone who has been impacted by the loss of a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or shortly after birth through its Perinatal Loss Services program. Perinatal Loss Services is a national program model which places relational support at the foundation of its bereavement care.

Bereavement care is offered through support resources and follow-up phone calls. Trained nurses also offer follow-up phone calls and ongoing grief support through written contact such as due date and anniversary cards. Books are available for loan on pregnancy and infant loss and grief.

Annual Walk to Remember

The Walk to Remember takes place in the month of October, which is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month. It is dedicated to the memory of babies who have died in pregnancy or infancy and serves to raise awareness of the needs of these families. Parents across the nation participate in symbolic walks and memorial services during this month.

Please save the date of October 14, 2023 at 10am for the 35th Annual Walk to Remember on Oak Lane at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg, Virginia 24503.
