Our approach

Centra's Authorized American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center is located within the Central Virginia Center for Simulation and Virtual Learning at 905 Lakeside Drive, Suite B, Lynchburg, Virginia. We have approximately 350 AHA Instructors aligned with our training center, teaching internal and external CPR courses. Our in-house AHA courses are taught by our full and part-time AHA Instructors, as well as multiple limbo instructors who routinely teach with us. 

Classes

The Centra AHA Training Center offers classes monthly. Certain classes are offered at various times throughout the year. Classes are open to Centra Caregivers and non-Centra registrants. In-person classes are offered at no-charge to Centra Caregivers.

*Centra Caregivers will pay a $25 convenience fee for online courses.

Class schedule & registration

Class Locations

American Heart Association classes are offered at the following locations:

Bedford Memorial Hospital

Classes are held on the second floor in the Board Room.

Gretna Medical Center

Classes are located in the Community Room. Gretna Coordinator: barry.hurley@centrahealth.com

Southside Community Hospital

Classes are held in the Quad which is adjacent to the lower-level parking lot.

Central Virginia Simulation & Virtual Learning Center

Rental equipment

The Centra American Heart Association Training Center no longer offers rental equipment. Direct any questions or concerns to our Training Center Coordinator, Kellie Maberry, by emailing Kellie.Maberry@centrahealth.com or calling 434.200.5038

AHA Certification

In the event of a lapse of provider certification or other urgent need, it is recommended that students complete the online course(s) and a hands-on station. Access to the online module(s) can be obtained by emailing ahatrainingcenter@centrahealth.com

Directions for the online course and hands-on learning station will be emailed to the student from RQI, our online vendor.

Instructor certifications must be renewed prior to expiration. If an instructor does not renew prior to expiration, the instructor must attend an instructor course to obtain instructor certification.
