Every year, more than 1,000 individuals, businesses, corporations and foundations make contributions to the Centra Foundation to support the services, programs and facilities of Centra.  Donors can make unrestricted gifts to fund numerous Foundation projects and programs, or they can make a restricted gift to fund a specific project or program.

Gifts to the Centra Foundation improve the current health care facilities and programs in our region and ensure that we meet the health care needs of future generations.

The Centra Foundation accepts outright cash gifts to the Annual Fund as well as major gifts for specific projects. Many donors give a planned gift made out of a donor's assets rather than from current income.

A planned gift can benefit the donor and his or her family by conserving assets, increasing lifetime income and often providing substantial savings in income, gifts and estate taxes. Planned gifts are made through a transfer vehicle. They include bequests, annuities, and other gift arrangements.

Tax Exempt Status

The Centra Foundation, a part of Centra, is a not-for-profit, tax exempt organization. The U.S. Department of the Treasury granted this status to the Centra Foundation on August 29, 1994. The Foundation's Federal Tax Exempt number is: 54-1604094.

You can give online by visiting our secure website here.  If you have any concerns about making your donation online please feel free to call the Foundation office at 434-200-4791 to give your information by phone.  We have staff available from 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday to assist you with your donation.

Make A Pledge

Ongoing donations are how we continue to do our works within the community.  It is through the generosity of donors that new technologies and treatment options are brought to the Central Virginia Medical Communities.

Cash Gifts

There is no easier way to get a charitable deduction and support the Centra Foundation at the same time than by giving a cash gift. It's as easy as writing a check or using your credit card. And you can deduct 100 percent of the gift amount from your federal income tax. Make sure you postmark your gift for each particular year by December 31.Click on the

Real Estate Gifts

If you own a home, vacation home, acreage or a farm, a charitable real estate gift can bring you great tax advantages. The tax benefits of appreciated real estate are identical to those of appreciated securities. A real estate donation provides you with an income tax charitable deduction for the full market value of the property and eliminates capital gains tax on your profit.

Appreciated Securities Gifts

An appreciated stocks and bonds gift is an excellent way to support the hospital's programs. This type of gift usually enables you to receive not only an income tax deduction, but also eliminates capital gains tax.

Honor Gifts

Making a gift in honor of an individual is a great way to remember a family member, friend or colleague on a special occasion. The gift is a tribute to the individual for which it's given. Gifts can recognize births, birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, retirements, weddings and professional or academic achievements.

When you let us know whom you want to honor, we'll send that person a card acknowledging your gift in his or her name.

Memorial Gifts

Gifts in memory of individuals can be given to memorialize a loved one, family member, spouse, friend or valued colleague. When we receive gifts in memory of an individual, we send a card to the family of the deceased notifying them of the gift.
